Camel ride no longer available Sukhna Lake SPCA announced. People can not enjoy camel rides at Sukhna Lake, Chandigarh. Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) challaned the camel owners who do not have licenses. Chalan will have to be paid in court. Action has been taken under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960 section 3. SPCA inspector Dharminder Dogra said that the camel is a performing animal, and to cradle, a camel registration with the concerned department is a must. He told that neither the camel owners had licenses for the camel rides nor the registration of their camels. So without licenses and registration, it comes under cruelty.
However, camel owners said that it will be difficult for them to earn their bread and butter and cradling of camels. Of course, they can continue their job after registration but that process will also take time.
