Central govt buying paddy Haryana Punjab. The Centre government will begin purchasing paddy from tomorrow in Haryana and Punjab, instead of October 11. Union Minister of State for Food – Ashwini Choubay has announced that the central govt will begin purchasing paddy and millet crops from October 3 after meeting with Manohar Lal Khattar and Dushyant Chautala. Generally, the Government of India start the procurement process from October 1 but due to the delayed monsoon, they had postponed it to October 11. Farmers agitated outside the residences of ministers and legislators in Haryana – Punjab. Farmers had said that their harvests are totally aged subsequently they carried them to mandis and if not picked up at the right time then the grain will fall, which will lead to less yield. Not just this farmer leaders had also said that deferred paddy procurement will prompt stubble burning. Punjab CM Charanjit Channi also asked PM Modi to procure paddy crops on time and furthermore discussed farm law. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal congratulated farmers and also asked the central government to withdraw farm laws and assure MSP.
