Chandigarh International Airport Mohali named after Bhagat Singh
Chandigarh International Airport Mohali named after Bhagat Singh. On August 20, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann tweeted that Chandigarh International Airport in Mohali would be named after Shaheed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh. He told that Punjab and Haryana agreed upon it. Additionally, he shared pictures of his meeting with Haryana’s Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala on his Twitter and Instagram accounts.
Bhagat Singh or Mangal Sein
It was announced by the Punjab government that the airport would be named after Bhagat Singh in 2007 whereas the Haryana government wanted to name it after Mangal Sein (leader of BJP and deputy CM of Haryana). It resulted in conflict between the two states. Punjab and Haryana High Court stated that states should resolve the issue by mutual consent. Since the issue is resolved, an offer will be sent to the central government.
