Delhi govt will make Pollution certificate compulsory fuel filling
On January 28, Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai said that the Delhi government will soon make the Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate compulsory for filling fuel at petrol pumps. Gopal Rai said, “this is a very ambitious policy being brought by the government”. As per the official statement, the policy draft will be placed for public opinion before being notified.
Carry PUC certificate at fueling stations
Gopal Rai said that as Delhi is facing pollution in winters, PUC certificates will be compulsory to carry at fueling stations. So that the pollution level of every vehicle will be kept in check in the state. He also added that policy will help to provide cleaner air to the residents. If anyone’s PUC is found invalid they will have to get it reissued at the pump.
A step towards Kejriwal’s commitment
Advisor to the Environment Minister Reena Gupta told that this policy affirms the commitment of Arvind Kejriwal to provide clean air to all the citizens of Delhi. She said that it is another revolutionary step to link valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates and fule purchase.
The government is also working to set up technology-based methods so that vehicle owners and petrol pump owners do not face any kind of inconvenience and there should be no long queues because of checking of PUC certificates. (ANI reported)
