Electricity strike Chandigarh benefit people said electricians. On February 21, 1000, electricians had gone on strike for three days against the privatization of electricity in Chandigarh. There was a complete blackout in the city. After more than 36 hours of blackout, the electricity was restored. People of Chandigarh and electricians criticized the Chandigarh Administration for giving the electricity department in the hands of private players. They are afraid that now their work terms will be changed. The residents showed their resentment against the administration because it is not the first time the workers have gone on strike suddenly. Workers of the electricity department said that they are on strike to benefit people because in the long run privatization of electricity will be disadvantageous for them.
