Extinction of vital herbs in the state
The director of the Higher Plant Himalayan Research Institute (HAPREC), Professor MC Nautiyal, researched the climatic change and herbs of the region. He stated that for the past several days, Kedarnath is experiencing increasing human activities. The garbage heaps are pausing threat to the essential herbs over there. Several herbs have already gone extinct in the state. Moreover, the use of manifold by the tourists has increased plastic garbage and they do not have proper sanitization facilities as well.
Tourism gives a boom to the economy but threat to the environment
Professor MS Negi, Head of the Department of Geography, Garhwal Central University claimed that an immense number of pilgrims are reaching Kedarnath Dham, which is certainly a good source of income for businessmen and the state government. However, rising human activities becoming a major threat to the environment. Furthermore, hazardous plastic will lead to soil erosion which can cause landslides in the state.
