India blocked Pakistani YouTube channels websites spreading fake news. On January 21, Apurva Chandra the Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting told at a press conference that the ministry ordered to block 35 youtube channels and two websites that were spreading fake news and running anti-India propaganda. They were spreading their propaganda in a coordinated manner and were being operated from Pakistan.
Five separate orders were issued under rule 16 of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting gave orders to block the websites and youtube channels. Indian Intelligence agencies were monitoring these accounts closely and asked the ministry for immediate actions.
