January 3 Vaccination children aged 15 18 PM Modi announced. On December 25, PM Modi made an announcement that vaccination will be started from January 3, 2021, for children between the age of 15 to 18. He said that Omicron COVID 19 variant is giving an upsurge to the new cases, so people have to be careful. Precautionary doses will be provided to the healthcare and frontline workers from January 10, 2022. People above the age of 60 who have co-morbidities can also have the option to take the booster dose but on the recommendation from doctors, which will also be available from January 10.
PM Modi appealed to the nation to wear masks, wash hands regularly, and urged people not to panic. He told that 18 lakh isolation beds, 1.4 lakh ICU beds, 5 lakh oxygen-supported beds, and 90,000 special beds for children are available. More than 61 percent of the adult population of India is vaccinated with both doses of the vaccine and 90 percent has received a single dose.
