Kartarpur Corridor reopens on November 17 Punjab cabinet first jatha. On November 17, Kartarpur corridor reopens for Sikh pilgrims, which was closed in March due to COVID. CM Charanjit Singh Channi said that he had personally taken up this issue before the central government. Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted that this decision reflects the immense reverence of the Modi government towards Guru Nanak Dev and our Sikh community. He added that nation is all set to celebrate the Prakash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev on November 19. The Home Ministry told that country’s total COVID cases are the lowest since March 2020 and they have also examined the security scenario before reopening the corridor.
CM Channi welcomed the decision and told that the Punjab cabinet would be the first jatha after the reopening of the corridor. They will visit Kartarpur Sahib on November 18. COVID 19 guidelines will be implemented for the pilgrims. Former CM Captain Amarinder Singh also welcomed the decision by calling it ‘timely’. Pakistan had also urged to reopen the Kartarpur corridor so that pilgrims can visit to celebrate Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary.
