Navjot Sidhu asked CM Amarinder act right way
Navjot Sidhu asked CM Amarinder act right way instead of power cuts. Navjot Sidhu asked CM Amarinder to act in the right way instead of power cuts. Actually, Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh ordered to cut down the power supply of high consumption industries and shorter working hours of govt offices. From July 2nd to July 10th government offices will open from 8 am to 2 pm. There are 2 reasons that why Punjab is facing a severe power shortage? First, due to weak monsoon farmers are facing a lot of problems in sowing paddy crops, and second state’s largest Talwandi Sabo thermal plant is shut since the month of March ( this year ).
Through a series of tweets, Navjot Singh Sidhu said that Punjab’s revenue per unit of consumption is the lowest in India due to mismanagement of the complete power purchase and supply system. PSPCL pays Rs. 0.18 per unit extra on every unit even after receiving over Rs. 9000 crore subsidy from the state. Because of over-dependence on 3 private thermal plants, Punjab pays Rs. 5-8 per unit, which is more than the other states.
Navjot Sidhu asked to bring new legislation in Punjab Vidhan sabha to cap costs of power purchase. Sidhu also said that SAD- BJP governments signed power purchase agreements ( PPAs ) which are incorrect. Punjab paid Rs . 5400 crores till 2020 and Rs. 65000 crore more have to pay because of PPAs incorrect clauses.
