Neeraj Chopra won first gold medal India Tokyo 2020. He won the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw and became the first independent Indian athlete in the track and field events. Neeraj won the gold medal in his second attempt as he performed best among 12 athletes. His first throw of 87.03 meters and his second of 87.58 meters, which is enough for him to win the gold medal. After Abhinav Bindra, he became the second Indian who won the gold medal in the individual category. Abhinav Bindra won the gold medal 2008 Beijing Olympics in the shooting. Haryana CM ML Khattar announced a cash award of Rupees 6 crore + class 1 category job for Neeraj. Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh also announced Rupees 2 crore cash award for him. Bajrang Punia ( 65 kg ) also won a bronze medal in freestyle today. Haryana government announced Rupees 2.5 crore + govt job + plot on 50 percent concession and an indoor stadium in his native village Khudan ( Jhajjar ).
