PM Modi asked resolving OBC medical education reservation. on a priority basis. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, health and family welfare minister Mansukh Mandavia, secretaries of education, law, and justice, social welfare, and senior officers of PMO attended this meeting. Several cases have been pending before different courts related to the demand of OBC reservations in the All India Quota (AIQ). Currently, 15 percent of undergraduate and 50 percent of postgraduate seats in State government medical colleges are earmarked as All India Quota. For admission Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribes have reservations in this quota but there are no reservations for the OBC category. PM Modi gave directions to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to implement reservations for Economically Weaker Sections ( EWS ) in the field of medical education. He also asked the ministry to review the implementation of EWS reservations by different states for medical education.
