Punjab started first govt sand sales center Mohali launching app. On December 19, Punjab’s Aam Aadmi Party government opened its first-ever sand and gravel retail center at Eco City-2 Mohali. Sand will be sold for Rupees 28/- for each foot. 5 percent GST and transportation is not added. Mining Minister Harjot Singh Bains said the government has 2.25 lakh metric tonnes of sand gravel available. Presently, sand is available at Rupees 35-38 per foot in most of the places in the state. People are paying Rupees 7300-8000 for a 200-foot trolley.
2 Lakh fine and the vehicle will be auctioned
If any person indulges in illegal mining, he will be fined rupees 2 lakh. The vehicle of the culprit will be auctioned if he would not pay the fine.

An app will be launched to order sand gravel online
The mining department of Punjab will soon launch an app to order sand and gravel online. People can install the app on their smartphones to place their orders. The whole process would be convenient and no sand mafia could loot them. Harjot Bains stated that people should come to the government shop and buy sand gravel at government prices.
