Russian military open humanitarian corridors hold fire

Russian military open humanitarian corridors hold fire. On March 7, Reuters reported that the Russian defense military will hold fire and open humanitarian corridors in various cities of Ukraine including Kyiv at 10 am Moscow time (0700 GMT). The ministry added that the corridors are being set up at the personal request of French President Emmanuel Macron. As per the maps published by the RIA news agency, the corridors will open from Kyiv will lead to Belarus (Russian ally), and civilians from Kharkiv will only have a corridor leading to Russia. Corridors from Mariupol and Sumy will lead both to other Ukrainian cities and to Russia. The ministry said that those who want to leave Kyiv will also be able to be airlifted to Russia and it would use drones to monitor the evacuation.

Meaning of Humanitarian corridors?

Humanitarian corridors are temporary demilitarized zone and it is a kind of safe zone through which civilians are provided aid and evacuated. They are set up to reduce casualties during conflict or war.
