Shinzo Abe assassination India announces one day national mourning. On July 8, the Former Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe was shot dead by a man in the city of Nara in the western part of the country. He was campaigning for elections for Japan’s upper house of Parliament which was to be on Sunday. He was the longest-serving prime minister and became PM of Japan twice. He served the country as a Prime Minister from 2006-2007 and from 2012-2020. He is known for his “Abenomics” which increased trade and employment trade in the country.
One-day state mourning in India
PM Modi tweeted, ” As a mark of our deepest respect for former Prime Minister Abe Shinzo, a one-day national mourning shall be observed on 9 July 2022.” In another tweet, he wrote “I am shocked and saddened beyond words at the tragic demise of one of my dearest friends, Shinzo Abe. He was a towering global statesman, an outstanding leader, and a remarkable administrator. He dedicated his life to make Japan and the world a better place.
