Sikh employees can carry Kirpan domestic flights BCAS said. On March 14, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has permitted the Sikh employees of the aviation sector to carry Kirpan at the airport. The Ministry of Civil Aviation abolished the clause which says that no employee at any domestic or international airport terminal is allowed to carry Kirpan in person. It was criticized by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, ANI reported.
The length of the Kirpan should be
BCAS said that a Sikh passenger can carry Kirpaan on his person. The length of its blade does not exceed 6 inches (15.24 cms) and the total length of a Kirpan does not exceed 9 inches (22.86 cms). It is allowed for fully domestic flights only.
“This exception shall be allowed for Sikh passengers only. No stakeholder or its employee at the airport including Sikhs and working in any terminal, domestic or international shall be allowed to carry Kirpan on person.” reads the notice.
