Farmer payments 24 48 hours prohibit states sale wheat Punjab. On April 8, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann visited Asia’s largest mandi in Khanna Punjab for inspection. Mann said that the first batch of wheat produce came to the mandi so the government is making efforts for farmers to provide facilities such as drinking water and toilet facilities. Strict orders have been given to the mandi officers so that farmers do not face any harassment.
Payments will be done in 24-48 hours
Mann told that 135 lakh metric tonne of wheat production is expected this year out of which 9-9.5 lakh tonne is expected from the Khanna district only. The Punjab government gave strict orders to the mandi board officers to provide bardana (burlap) bags, transportation facilities, and labor. Payments must be done in 24 to 48 hours. Farmers are the Food-providers of the country so they should not face any kind of humiliation and harassment.
Extra mandis for farmers
Mann told that presently, Punjab has 2262 mandis (markets) in total out of which 1862 are permanent whereas 400 are temporary which were made during corona. The Punjab government is continuing the temporary ones so that farmers do not have to go far to sell their produce. He also slammed the former governments for bothering farmers. He said that it happened because the former governments might not know the ground realities.
Awards will be given to Arhtiyas
Mann said that those awards will be given to those arhtiyas (middlemen) who are buying wheat by paying an extra amount. Actually, some of the arhtiyas are paying Rupees 5 extra than MSP it is because of wheat demand coming from Ukraine.
Other states are prohibited to sale wheat in Mandis of Punjab
CM Mann told that the Punjab government is monitoring all the 2262 mandis of the state. Farmers from other states came to Punjab to sell their crops it is because they do not get MSP. However, Mann said that no one is allowed to sell their crops in Punjab.
